Property watch: eight free days in a campus garage

Miami Book Fair runs 15-22 November with free parking for the full eight days and a free-admission Friday, and the organiser names no hotel partner or room block.

Eight days, one free garage

Miami Book Fair runs Sunday 15 November to Sunday 22 November 2026 on the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus, 300 NE Second Ave. The organiser publishes free parking at the MDC Wolfson Campus Parking Garage for all eight days, at 500 NE Second Ave., entered from NE Fifth Street between First and Second avenues.

The organiser puts the walk between the garage and the closest Fair entrance at one block.

The paid lots beside it

Miami Parking Authority sells a flat $5 rate for 15-22 November at College Station, 190 NE Third St., with access from NE Second Street. The FAQ names a second paid garage at 100 SE Second St., in the Bank of America Building, with no price.

Eight days in the campus garage cost a driver nothing. Eight days at College Station cost $5.

The ticketed window

The Street Fair holds the final three days, 20 to 22 November. Gates open at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday run 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday 20 November carries no admission charge. Saturday and Sunday run $12 for an adult, $7 for a senior over 62 and $5 for a teen aged 13 to 18. Multiday tickets run $18, $12 and $8. Children 12 and under enter free. MDC students, faculty and staff enter free with an MDC ID.

An adult pays $24 for two single days and $18 for the multiday ticket.

The Friday gate covers the street

The Fair sells separate tickets for its author sessions. The organiser's ticketed list carried 11 priced sessions on 21 October 2026, from $20 to $45, and three of them fall inside the Street Fair weekend. The rest sit on the evenings of 15 to 19 November, starting at 5, 6:30, 7 or 8 p.m.

Those evening sessions hold a visitor on campus after the street gate closes.

The inventory question

Four organiser pages carry the parking, ticket and access detail: the overview, the Street Fair page, the Directions and Parking page and the FAQ. None of the four carries the word hotel. None names a lodging partner, a room block, a rate or a booking code.

The Fair publishes no attendance figure and no garage capacity. A downtown operator weighing the week needs both numbers. A free garage and a free Friday can pull a drive-in visitor off paid inventory and can add a night to a stay.

The $5 College Station flat rate sets the parking value a downtown hotel competes against for that visitor.

Streets, rail and drop-off

The Fair closes streets around the campus. The organiser tells drivers to map the route to 145 NE Fifth St. Rideshare and drop-off traffic goes to the Green entrance on NE First Avenue, south of NE Third Street.

Metrorail riders reach Government Center, transfer to the Metromover and exit at College Bayside or College North. Brightline riders transfer at MiamiCentral onto the Metromover Inner Loop.

Security at the gate

MDC Public Safety hand-checks bags, backpacks, purses and containers at the gate. Firearms and other weapons stay off the grounds.
