The deal
Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland has bought The Bristol Hotel from The Doyle Collection. The price is undisclosed. The group announced the deal on 14 October 2026 and will rebrand the property Leonardo Royal Hotel Bristol.
The hotel carries 187 rooms and trades from Prince St in Bristol, postcode BS1 4QF, on the Floating Harbour. It becomes the group's second property in the city and its tenth Leonardo Royal in the UK, joining London, Southampton, Glasgow, Birmingham, Oxford, Brighton and Edinburgh.
The money
The group commits £11.5 million to a phased refurbishment of guest rooms and public spaces. That is £61,500 a room across 187 keys. The release carries no start date, no completion date and no contractor.
What comes with it
Nine flexible meeting and event spaces take up to 400 delegates. Dining runs across three venues on the buyer's property page: The River Grille, The River Lounge and Rick's. Afternoon tea runs Thursday to Saturday, 12.30pm to 4.30pm. The hotel carries a fitness centre, on-site parking, 24-hour room service and concierge support.
The acquisition release names one outlet, Leo's Bar and Restaurant. The property page publishes the three venues above.
The buyer's own numbers
Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland runs 63 hotels and more than 13,000 rooms. Jason Carruthers, managing director, cited the property's “outstanding harbourside location, strong reputation and excellent facilities”.
Leonardo sits inside Fattal Hotels, which owns and operates 332 hotels across more than 140 destinations, over 59,000 rooms and 22 countries. Guy Vardi and Yaniv Amzaleg of Fattal Hotel Group called the deal the start of the group's third partnership with institutional investors in four years, a run that has secured more than €850 million of equity. The release points to recent acquisitions in New York, France, Spain and Greece.
The seller's side
The Doyle Collection's hotel list now carries seven properties: The Westbury, The Kensington, The Marylebone, The Bloomsbury, The Dupont Circle, The Croke Park and The River Lee. The Bristol is gone from it.
The seller's site carries a standing notice. Reservations for The Bristol “will no longer be available through this website”, and existing bookings go to the hotel on +44 20 7486 6600.
What the record leaves out
The price. A refurbishment timetable. A room count in the release or on the property page. The 187 rooms and the £61,500 a key come from the HVS European hotel transactions bulletin for the week ending 16 October 2026.
