Seventeen rooms close the programme
Aldwark Manor Estate completes the Salus Wing in October 2026. The three-storey building adds 17 bedrooms, seven treatment rooms and two meeting rooms. It is the last building in a £25m programme.
Depho Estates, a local family business, bought the estate in 2019. The £25m covers the work since that purchase. The programme rebuilt the Victorian manor house, added three new buildings and redesigned the 18-hole golf course.
Eleven rooms above the sports bar
Bunkers Sports Bar occupies the site of the old golf clubhouse, with 11 bedrooms above it. Chartwell and the Salus Wing are the other two new buildings. Rooms sit in the manor house, in Ladybower and above Bunkers, and South Lodge is let on its own. The estate has published no total bedroom count for the finished property.
A £202 rate now on the estate site
A Classic Double starts at £202 a night with breakfast and two hours of spa. The rate is prepaid and non-refundable. It was quoted for the night of 11 November 2026 and recorded on 13 October 2026.
Chartwell holds three AA Rosettes
Chartwell took three AA Rosettes in 2024 and sits in the Michelin Guide selection. Pinafore, its mezzanine private room, seats 12. Clem's pours wine by the glass. Elements holds two AA Rosettes and now takes a retractable roof. The estate also runs the Squadron Bar and a cocktail bar built into a converted horse box.
The spa took £12m and opened in 2025
Salus Spa opened in late 2025. The thermal circuit runs an indoor pool, an outdoor hydrotherapy pool, an outdoor sauna, a salt steam room, heated loungers, cryotherapy, a Technogym gym and a studio. A spa garden sits beside them. The former hotel pool came down, and an infinity pool replaced it.
Golf, padel and the river
The 18-hole course runs between the pond and the River Ure. A padel court is new. The Boathouse holds meeting space at the water. The Gatekeeper's Cottage has been refurbished, and a 1964 Routemaster bus takes private bookings.
An 1865 manor and the Dambusters
The present manor house dates from 1865. It was requisitioned during the Second World War, and Wing Commander Guy Gibson spent time there while planning the Dambusters raid. The building later held a school and became a hotel in 1978.
