Cedar Court Completes £10m Programme With Wakefield Still Shut

Cedar Court Hotels has finished a six-year £10m programme across three Yorkshire hotels, with bedroom upgrades and a meeting-space conversion still to come.

Six years, ten million

Cedar Court Hotels has completed a six-year capital programme worth £10 million across its Yorkshire hotels. The group's release was carried on 15 October 2026.

The spend rebuilt bedrooms, public areas and meeting space at Harrogate and covered works at Bradford and Huddersfield. It repurposed leisure facilities across the estate.

About £750,000 of the total went on solar panels. The programme added energy sensors, new hot and cold water systems and waste management equipment.

Wayne Topley, managing director, said the programme had been about a lot more than modernising spaces. The group took "a six-year look at what Cedar Court needs to be for the next generation of guests, our teams, and the communities we operate in."

What the file shows

The group's meetings page counts 32 meeting rooms across the three trading hotels: 15 at Bradford, 9 at Huddersfield and 8 at Harrogate. Bradford's largest exhibition space runs 510 square metres with a maximum capacity of 800.

Bedrooms stand at 131 in Bradford, 114 in Huddersfield and 100 in Harrogate.

Two FitFlex gyms trade at Bradford and Huddersfield with memberships open to the public. Amber's Restaurant opened at Harrogate and serves the town as well as the hotel.

The group's green policy page records more than half a million pounds of sustainability spending over the previous two years, a Green Tourism Silver Award and a bid for Gold. The page places solar at Bradford and Wakefield.

The fourth site is closed

The group's copy counts three hotels in one place and four in another. The home page opens with three hotels. The offers page names four locations in Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and Harrogate. The about-us page lists all four.

The Wakefield page answers the difference. It reads: "While our hotel is currently closed, we're excited to let you know that our Leisure Club remains open". The club carries a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, gym and tanning bed.

The green policy still counts Wakefield as a site. The £10 million therefore covers the three hotels that trade. Wakefield contributes a leisure club and a solar array, and no bedrooms to the programme.

Bedrooms next, then leased desks

The next phase is bedroom upgrades across the estate. The second item converts underused meeting space into flexible leased accommodation for local businesses.

That conversion changes what the floor sells. A meeting room sells by the day. A leased suite sells by the month and brings a different customer with a different contract length.

The release publishes no square footage for the conversion, no target rent and no date.

Awards and the age of the company

Cedar Court Harrogate and Cedar Court Huddersfield took Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice awards in January 2026. The award places both in the top 10 percent of hospitality businesses on reviews and ratings from the previous year.

Topley put the company at "more than 25 years" in the county. The group's about-us page reads "over 35 years of experience".

Both figures can hold across different measures. The pages publish no incorporation date, so a buyer or a lender working the file has to ask.

What the release leaves out

It allocates none of the £10 million to a hotel or a year. It gives no completion date for the bedroom phase or the workspace conversion. It does not name the operator of the leased space.

The rest is a countable record. £10 million over six years, 32 meeting rooms across three trading hotels, two gyms open to the public, about £750,000 of solar and two Tripadvisor awards. Every figure belongs to the group.
