McCourt Buys Into 530 Sansome. Two Office Figures, No Start Date.

McCourt Partners holds an equity stake in the 41-story tower at 530 Sansome Street and joined Related California as co-developer in April 2026. The programme carries about 200 hotel rooms, 230,100 square feet of hotel space and a replacement Fire Station No. 13 at 447 Battery Street. No groundbreaking has been announced, and the project's own reports carry two office areas.

McCourt Partners holds an equity stake in the 41-story tower planned at 530 Sansome Street. The firm joined Related California as co-developer. San Francisco YIMBY reported the joint venture on 22 April 2026.

No groundbreaking has been announced.

Gino Canori, president and chief executive of Related California, said the partnership with the city and local stakeholders leaves the team ready to deliver the tower and a modern fire station. Jordan Lang, president of McCourt Partners, said the venture reflects the firm's conviction in San Francisco's recovery.

The programme on the record

The tower runs 41 stories and 574 feet. Total floor area comes to about 649,500 square feet. The hotel takes 230,100 square feet, with about 200 rooms on floors four through 15. Retail and restaurant space takes 7,400 square feet.

Office space takes floors 16 through 41, and the project's own reports carry two areas for it. San Francisco YIMBY published 342,000 square feet on 22 April 2026. The same outlet published 412,000 square feet on 28 October 2025. The two figures differ by 70,000 square feet. The earlier set adds to the 649,500-square-foot total.

Parking covers 74 cars and 104 bicycles. The ground level carries a cafe, the hotel arrival room and the office lobby. The second floor carries a 4,000-square-foot restaurant overlooking Washington Street. The third floor carries the hotel lobby, two meeting rooms and a ballroom.

The fire station in the deal

The plan replaces Fire Station No. 13 with a station at 447 Battery Street. The new building rises 55 feet over four floors above a basement garage. Its first floor holds three engine bays and a fire truck behind four bay doors facing Battery Street.

The site spans three parcels. One holds the fire station at 530 Sansome Street. Two hold vacant commercial structures at 425 and 435-445 Washington Street.

The city and Related California run the project as a public-private partnership. The plan carries a nearly $15 million affordable-housing agreement, including a proposal in Chinatown at 772 Pacific Street.

The design

Skidmore Owings & Merrill is the design architect. The glass tower tapers along the wider walls, with seven setbacks across the 41 floors. Pastel-green metal panels sit beside the curtain wall glass. The three-story podium carries thicker fluted metal panels.

The timeline the partnership published

Related California said in April 2026 that construction could start as early as this year. Its preliminary application puts a start as early as 2027, with 3.20 years of work to a 2030 completion.

San Francisco YIMBY states that the project team has yet to provide an estimated timeline for groundbreaking. Its four reports name no building permit, no general contractor and no construction lender.

A signed operator, a filed permit and a recorded loan would each set the start. None is published.
