Big Ten 2027: Six Days Booked, No Hotel Block

The 2027 Big Ten men's tournament returns to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for six days, and the conference publishes no hotel programme for the week.

Tournament Set, Block Missing

The 30th TIAA Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament runs Tuesday 9 to Sunday 14 March 2027 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis. The conference published the window on 7 August 2026. All 18 teams qualify into a single-elimination bracket. Game times and television designations are unpublished, and the conference states that ticket information has not been announced.

No hotel programme exists for the week. The conference's travel path, hotel path and 2027 tournament path each return 404. Its tournament information page carries no mention of a hotel, a room block or housing. The tickets page lists Men's Basketball, Tuesday 9 March to Sunday 14 March, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse beside a link reading Send me ticket info.

The Signia Joins the Connected Package

Visit Indy's connected-hotels page states that Indianapolis will add 803 rooms connected to the Indiana Convention Center with the new Signia Hilton Indianapolis. The same page counts the connected package at 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms, and puts rooms within walking distance of the convention center above 10,000 once the downtown pipeline lands. Its roster lists the Signia at 803 sleeping rooms, 235,000 square feet of meeting space and a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, 38 stories tall, expected to open in 2026.

The Indiana Convention Center's expansion page gives the same building 803 rooms and dates delivery to December 2026 on a summer 2023 groundbreaking. That page carries 90,000 square feet of meeting space, a 50,455-square-foot Grand Ballroom, a 15,668-square-foot Junior Ballroom, a 9,000-square-foot Signature Ballroom and seventy suites from 450 to 1,900 square feet. The Center's April 2026 news item gives the hotel 800 rooms, calls it the city's tallest hotel and the Center's newest headquarters hotel, and reports reservations open for stays beginning 1 February 2027, with direct skywalk access to the Center and access to Lucas Oil Stadium and Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

One building carries three room counts across two publishers. The Center's news item and Bradford Allen's 19 March 2026 report both give 800. Visit Indy's roster and the Center's expansion page both give 803. Visit Indy's meeting-hotels page uses a fourth form for the same project: 800-plus in development.

Downtown Supply Before Any Block

The Center's footer publishes 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis and 4,700 rooms connected to the Convention Center by skywalk, with 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport. Visit Indy's meeting-hotels page gives 34,000 rooms in the metro area, over 8,300 rooms downtown with more than 3,000 in the pipeline, 4,700 connected to the Center at 12 hotels with 800-plus in development, and 24 properties holding 10,000 or more square feet of meeting space. The bureau's downtown hotels page reads more than 9,400 hotel rooms downtown, with a staggering 5,200 connected to the Indiana Convention Center.

Bradford Allen published the market snapshot on 19 March 2026, from a Downtown Indy Alliance report built on CoStar and STR data. Downtown occupancy averaged 64.7 percent against a U.S. average of 62.4 percent. Revenue per available room was $135.20, 13 percent up year on year and 35 percent ahead of the U.S. average of $99.96. Average daily rate was $209.11, 12 percent up year on year. The market recorded 8.1 million room nights of demand in the twelve months to mid-year 2025, more than 580,000 above its pre-COVID peak. The mid-year pipeline held more than 1,500 rooms under construction, 3,402 rooms in final planning and 3,220 rooms proposed.

The Open Window

A group booking the tournament week has no published block to join. The published clocks are the bracket's six days, 9 to 14 March, and the conference's regular-season table, which closes with four games on Sunday 7 March. Monday 8 March is the one night between that close and the Tuesday open.

The venue's A-Z guide publishes the terms that apply to any group. Backpacks, hard-sided bags and any bag larger than 6 by 10 by 2 inches are refused at the door. Oversized bags may be stored for a fee, subject to availability, at the Hyatt Place Indianapolis Downtown Valet Bell Services Desk, 130 S. Pennsylvania St. Door opening times vary by event, and the venue publishes a 90-minute pre-tip window for Fever games only, with a (317) 917-2500 line for a specific event's doors. Visit Indy places the arena three blocks from the Indiana Convention Center, with onsite parking in the Virginia Street Garage and more than 42,000 parking spaces within a 10-minute walk.

The connected package is the week's news. The Signia's 803 rooms sit inside Visit Indy's 12-hotel, 5,200-room count, and the first advertised stay night there is 1 February 2027, 36 days before the tournament opens. No hotel programme for the tournament is published on the organiser's site.
