The news
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa began a $107 million renovation of the Borgata Tower on Sunday 13 September 2026. NJBIZ reported the project on 2 September 2026.
The scope covers every guestroom and suite in the tower, the guestroom corridors, the elevator lobbies and the main lobby, known as The Living Room. Renovated rooms return to inventory floor by floor from October 2026.
The size of the block
NJBIZ puts the covered block at about 2,000 guestrooms and suites. A Borgata spokesperson told NJBIZ that work at the 43-storey tower is expected to finish by autumn 2027. The property's own announcement carries no completion date.
Borgata calls the Borgata Tower its original block. The resort trades on 2,000 hotel rooms and suites in its own property description, so the renovation spans the main sellable inventory.
The design
Avenue Interior Design designed the work. The studio is based in Los Angeles and worked on the tower's earlier design and on changes to B Bar.
The rooms take warm woods, camel and cognac tones, cream, deep blue and burnished metals. Upholstered headboards, custom woodwork, integrated metal detailing and sculptural furnishings add texture.
“We kept coming back to the idea of a beautifully tailored wardrobe for the guestroom and suites renovation at the Borgata,” said Ashley Justman, co-founder and chief creative officer of Avenue Interior Design.
The resort's own correction
NJBIZ published an editor's note at 10:17 a.m. on 4 September 2026. The note records the removal of a reference to Avenue Interior Design's work on the MGM Tower, because the resort had sent incorrect information.
Hotel Online's copy carries neither the MGM Tower credit nor a clean clause. It reads “the tower's previous designand recent transformation of B Bar”, with the two clauses run together.
The money already in the property
NJBIZ records a $55 million remodel and rebranding of the Water Club into MGM Tower in 2023. Borgata has also completed upgrades to its casino floor, its restaurants and its bars.
The market it sells into
Borgata was Atlantic City's top-grossing property among the city's nine casinos in the second quarter of 2026, at $218.4 million in net revenue and up 3.6 per cent on the year, per the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
NJBIZ reported on 17 September 2026 that citywide gaming revenue fell 4.1 per cent to $615.7 million in August while internet gaming rose 4.4 per cent to $259.3 million. Borgata led casino win for the month at $85.37 million, up 6.4 per cent.
The copy that arrived late
Hotel Online stamped its copy 15 September 2026, 13 days after the announcement. The body still reads as though the start date lay ahead. Construction had run for two days by the time that copy went up.
