The conversion
Hive House, a 45-suite hotel in Cary, North Carolina, has joined Unscripted by Hyatt. Hyatt announced the addition on 28 September 2026. The hotel opened independently in July 2025 under CMC Hotels and converted on 24 September 2026.
Hotel Dive reported the conversion on 29 September 2026 and described the property as converting under Unscripted. CMC Hotels had developed the hotel on its own.
Cary's first Hyatt flag
The hotel is Cary's first Hyatt-branded property. It joins Unscripted by Hyatt, the collection brand inside Hyatt's Essentials Portfolio. That portfolio also carries Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Studios, Hyatt Select and UrCove.
The 45 suites
The suites range from 312 to 412 square feet. Each pairs a separate living space with a full kitchen. Hyatt describes the layout as suited to longer stays, and the property carries colorful interiors, curated artwork and social spaces.
The cafe stocked by North Carolina makers
Hive House Cafe stocks fresh bakery items and products from producers across the state: Trophy Brewing of Raleigh, Griff's Toffee of Chapel Hill and Poppy Popcorn of Asheville among them.
Sheri Erhart, chief operating officer and principal at CMC Hotels, put the cafe in one line. "Maybe it is a beer they have never tried, a North Carolina-made treat or something they end up taking home," she said.
The building and its policies
The hotel lists free high-speed Wi-Fi across guest suites and public spaces. The fitness center carries Peloton equipment, cardio machines with smart TVs, free weights, resistance bands and yoga mats. A multifunctional lobby, a 24-hour market and self-service laundry run around the clock. Dogs are welcome at a 35-pound limit per pet and a $75 fee per stay.
What the flag adds
Hive House takes bookings through Hyatt and World of Hyatt. Guests earn or redeem points on eligible stays, and eligible stays count toward the Brand Explorer Award. Jason Ballard, senior vice president and global brand leader for Hyatt's Essentials Portfolio, called the hotel a first for Cary and a new way for members to experience the community.
Hyatt reported more than 1,500 hotels and all-inclusive properties in 83 countries as of 30 June 2026.
What the release leaves out
The release publishes no investment figure and no conversion cost. CMC Hotels is based in Cary and owns and operates about 1,800 hotel rooms across North Carolina across Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and independent properties.
