Choice Hotels International agreed on 30 September 2026 to acquire Harvest Hosts, an RV travel membership company, from Stripes and other shareholders. The company put the enterprise value at about $130 million in cash.
Choice expects the deal to close on 1 October 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. The purchase will draw on cash on hand and borrowings under its existing revolving credit facility. Choice said the acquisition should not have a material effect on its 2026 results and does not change its 2026 share repurchase expectations.
What the buyer gets
Harvest Hosts connects RV travellers with overnight stays at more than 11,200 host locations, including wineries, farms, breweries and museums. Harvest Hosts' own site counts 9,500 or more hosts across 49 US states and 10 Canadian provinces, and a community of 500,000 RVers.
Choice describes Harvest Hosts as the largest private RV camping network in North America. The membership carries a family of companies alongside the host network: Escapees RV Club, Boondockers Welcome, CampScanner and Brit Stops.
Membership runs $99 to $179 a year on the company's own plan page.
The stated rationale
Choice said many travellers already book both hotel stays and RV travel, and that Choice Privileges members over-index among RV travellers. The company calls that overlap an opening to link its loyalty base to the Harvest Hosts network.
The over-index finding is Choice's own research. The announcement names no external study.
What changes at Harvest Hosts
Harvest Hosts will run as a standalone business under its existing brand. Joel Holland continues as chief executive officer alongside the existing leadership team, and the Harvest Hosts staff join Choice Hotels at close.
Choice describes the purchase as consistent with its long-term asset-light strategy.
The two chief executives on the deal
Dom Dragisich, president and chief executive officer of Choice Hotels International, said: "Choice Hotels has a long history of delivering quality travel experiences for value-minded consumers, and our acquisition of Harvest Hosts extends that reach into an attractive segment of the outdoor travel market."
Holland said the deal gives Harvest Hosts a route to bring its experience to more people and to accelerate its mission of "creating millions of happier campers and communities."
Stripes and the price
Stripes, a New York-based growth equity firm, invested $37 million in Harvest Hosts in 2021, according to Harvest Hosts' own announcement that year. The $130 million enterprise value is about 3.5 times that figure.
Advisors and the buyer's scale
Jefferies LLC advised Harvest Hosts, with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP as legal counsel. Choice Hotels was advised by ArentFox Schiff LLP.
Choice states it runs more than 7,500 hotels, more than 650,000 rooms and 49 countries and territories across 22 brands.
