Crowne Plaza Takes Back Times Square With 685 Keys
IHG Hotels and Resorts opened Crowne Plaza Manhattan Times Square on 2 September 2026 and calls the property its new Americas flagship for the brand. It is the second Crowne Plaza to carry a Times Square address, after the one at 1605 Broadway left the system.
The hotel holds 685 city-view guestrooms in a 22-story building at 790 Seventh Avenue, north of Times Square inside the Theater District. The tower went up in 1962 for the 1964 New York World's Fair. It traded most recently as The Manhattan at Times Square, after earlier runs as the Sheraton City Squire Hotel and the Sheraton Manhattan Hotel.
The Owner, the Operator and the Split
Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company, the Qatar-based investor known as ARTIC, developed the property. Highgate manages it. Highgate also manages the Hyatt Regency Times Square at 1605 Broadway, the 795-key hotel owned by Argent Ventures that opened under Hyatt in July 2025 on the former Crowne Plaza site.
What the Guests Get
Fifty-First Street Social is the bar and all-day dining room, named for a nearby cross street. A 24/7 Marketplace sells grab-and-go food and travel essentials. The Studio is a meeting room for small sessions, and IHG attaches Weekly Socials and Daily Rituals to the flag. Brazilian-born, Atlanta-based artist Tiago Magro supplied large-scale murals through the building. The Manhattan Level occupies the 18th floor, and the Broadway Suite sits on the 22nd floor with a terrace.
Ginger Taggart, IHG vice president of brand management for global premium brands, said the hotel represents a defining moment for the brand and tied the work to Crowne Plaza's New Modern design philosophy and to blended travel. Tarek El Sayed, managing director and chief executive of ARTIC, said the transformation reflects a long-term hold on the asset and confidence in the New York market.
The Market Behind the Opening
Manhattan lodging revenue per available room rose more than 7 percent year over year in the first half of 2025, with average daily rate up 5.7 percent, on the PwC index Hotel Dive cites. Luxury hotels led with a RevPAR gain above 10 percent for the half, nearly double the growth of upper midscale through upper upscale properties.
The Brand's Pipeline
Crowne Plaza counts more than 400 open hotels worldwide with a pipeline of nearly 150 properties. IHG expects the brand to add more than 36,000 rooms and grow its global footprint by more than 35 percent. Half the brand's global estate is now new or recently renovated.
The Figures IHG Left Out
The release carries no starting rate, no renovation cost, no management term and no room count by category. The property publishes its guestrooms by the night, and the trade coverage of the opening carries no hourly or daytime product.
