Current Lands 3,000 Delegates Two Blocks From 20,000 Rooms

Confluent's Current puts 3,000-plus delegates at Moscone West on 4-5 November, two blocks from the more than 20,000 hotel rooms the venue counts within walking distance of the centre.

Two walking-distance counts on one venue site

The venue publishes its own room inventory on two pages with two bases. The FAQ answers the closest-hotel question with more than 20,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of The Moscone Center. The book-event page states that more than two-thirds of the city's 34,000 hotel rooms sit within walking distance. Two-thirds of 34,000 is 22,666 rooms.

Three thousand delegates against the 20,000 figure is 15.0 per cent of the walking-distance inventory, if every delegate held one room.

The room-night pool behind a Wednesday-to-Thursday programme

Current San Francisco 2026 runs Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November. The organiser's agenda puts a travel day on Tuesday 3. A delegate who follows the travel day holds the Tuesday and the Wednesday nights, which is two nights. A delegate who arrives on the Wednesday morning holds one night.

At the organiser's own scale line of 3000+ attendees, the ceiling is 6,000 room nights on the two-night stay and 3,000 on the one-night stay. That is arithmetic on the organiser's published attendance figure. The organiser publishes no pickup figure, no room-night count and no block size.

Where the block sits in the booking route

The organiser confirms blocks exist and places them in the attendee confirmation email, all within walking distance of the Moscone Center. No property, no rate, no cut-off date and no booking link appear on any page reached. The FAQ puts cancellations of hotel reservations made directly with a hotel on the attendee. That sentence is the only published split between a block booking and a direct one.

The venue sells rooms for the city, not for itself

The convention sales copy is explicit. The Moscone Center serves primarily to fill hotel rooms in San Francisco and potentially the surrounding area. It offers availability to conventions and tradeshows that draw attendees from outside the area. It does not rent rooms on an individual basis.

The November rate basis

Engine's San Francisco page reads $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Its month ladder puts November at $147, 11 per cent below the citywide average, against October at $176, September at $192 and a March peak at $197. Thirty-five per cent separates the cheapest month from the priciest, and the market ranks 18 of 50.

The page defines every figure as a par rate, the cheapest publicly available price at the time of a live search, drawn from searches made 10 to 180 days before check-in.

The demand read and its lag

CoStar with STR, in a release dated 28 September 2026, reports San Francisco with the largest increases across all three key metrics for August 2026: occupancy up 6.6 per cent to 79.3 per cent, ADR up 8.7 per cent to $216.77 and RevPAR up 15.8 per cent to $171.84.

AHLA and the California Hotel and Lodging Association, with Oxford Economics, put hotels' economic impact in San Francisco above $12 billion in 2025 and each room night at about $900 in citywide spending.

What the published record leaves open

A SoMa house can size the district pool, the two-night ceiling, the November basis and the August demand read from the pages above. A revenue manager still cannot get the block rate, the block property, the cut-off date, a pickup curve, a shoulder-night term or an occupancy read for the event week.

The venue's feed shows a same-day neighbour. INFORMS Annual Meeting 2026 runs 1-4 November in Moscone South, so Wednesday 4 November carries both meetings on one campus.
