The Final Indianapolis 8 Hour at the Speedway

The organiser calls October's Indianapolis 8 Hour its last at the Speedway. The 2027 season carries five rounds and no Indianapolis date.

The Last Running Sits On October 9-11

The Indianapolis 8 Hour runs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway from Friday 9 October to Sunday 11 October 2026. The venue sells three gate days. The organiser dates the meeting 8 to 10 October, and its provisional event schedule runs 7 to 11 October.

The Organiser Calls This The Final Edition

SRO Motorsports Group published the news on 15 September 2026 under the headline “DESDER Indianapolis 8 Hour attracts record provisional entry.” The item states that the race hosts the Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge America championship showdowns “for the final time.”

The same item dates the association. It reads: “IMS's seven-year association with Intercontinental GT Challenge, which first raced there in 2020.” It then gives the move: “America's leg of the globe-trotting GT3 series is moving to Circuit of The Americas from next season.”

The organiser's own event page carries the visit history. Its Championship Visits table lists 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 under the Intercontinental GT Challenge name. The 2026 edition makes the seventh running.

The 2027 Season Has Five Rounds And No Indianapolis

SRO's 2027 calendar lists five rounds. Round 1 is the Meguiar's Bathurst 12 Hour, 11 to 14 February 2027. Round 2 is the Texas 8 Hour, 7 to 8 May 2027. Round 3 is the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, 27 to 30 May 2027. Round 4 is the 24 Hours of Spa, 23 to 27 June 2027. Round 5 is the Suzuka 1000km, 3 to 5 September 2027.

The American round moves month as well as venue. The October weekend becomes a May weekend. The 2027 calendar names the round the Texas 8 Hour, and the 15 September news item names Circuit of The Americas as the destination.

The Venue's Own Navigation Says The Same

IMS lists six other events with 2027 dates in its site navigation. The Sonsio Grand Prix carries May 14-15, 2027. The Indianapolis 500 carries May 18-30, 2027. BC39 and USAC Indiana Sprint Week carry TBD, 2027. Brickyard Weekend carries July 23-25, 2027. The TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks carries September 17-19, 2027.

The Indianapolis 8 Hour line carries one date: October 9-11, 2026. It is the only event in that list with no 2027 date.

What The Venue Publishes About Rooms

Nothing on its own pages. Across the event pages, the price pages, the parking pages and the FAQ, IMS states no attendance figure, no room block and no lodging rate for the 8 Hour.

The FAQ answers the hotel question with a telephone number. It reads: “Information may be obtained by calling Visit Indy at 1-800-556-INDY or visiting www.visitindy.com.”

The 8 Hour section carries no lodging entry in its navigation, and its lodging path returns the site's not-found page. The venue's other event sections carry one.

A Record Grid Leaves With It

The organiser counts 29 cars across nine manufacturers and states that several more entries could yet materialise. The published provisional entry list of 15 September 2026 carries 29 rows.

Porsche holds 11 entries. Mercedes-AMG holds six. Ferrari and BMW hold three each. Chevrolet holds two. Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren and Aston Martin hold one each.

Twenty-five of the 29 entries carry a United States nationality. The remaining four are entered from Canada, Denmark, Germany and San Marino.

The Price Ladder Is The Published Demand Signal

IMS prices the weekend in four dated columns and publishes no attendance figure beside them. The last column opened 22 September and runs to 11 October.

A three-day general admission ticket costs $85 in that column. Saturday sits at $40 to $45, Sunday at $30 and Friday at $20. A three-day Paddock Plus pass costs $90, with the single days at $50, $45 and $45.

The three-day price stepped 21.43 percent from the previous column's $70. Saturday rose 28.57 percent at the top of its band. Sunday rose 20 percent from $25. Friday has held at $20 since the second column. Saturday prices at 2.00 to 2.25 times the Friday admission, and Sunday prices at 1.50 times it.

The Group Terms Carry A Date That Has Passed

The venue sells group tickets from 20 upward. The published benefits are up to $40 off ticket options, a $5 discount at participating IMS retail shops, a personal group sales representative and special group block seating. The offer does not apply to tickets already bought.

Group tickets carry no reservation cost, and cancellation runs until final payment. The page reads: “full payment is due no later than 30 days prior to each respective race.” For the 10 October race that date was 10 September 2026, and it has passed. Once paid, the tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

Suites run $5,000 plus tax for 25 people and $7,500 plus tax for 50, or $200 and $150 a person. The access line on the same page reads “October 16-18,” a weekend no 8 Hour page carries.

The Paddock Pass Rule

The organiser's news item tells fans to expect “open paddock access.” IMS publishes a pass rule on the same area. Its Paddock Plus page and its gate regulations both state that everyone, regardless of age, must hold a Paddock Plus pass to access the paddock.

The venue's ticket pages put the garage line the other way. General admission includes garage access for all series. The paddock sits behind the pass, and the pass does not include gate admission.
