FOG's 13th edition lands in a January with four demand blocks

FOG Design+Art runs its 13th edition from 21 to 24 January 2027 at Fort Mason with 50 exhibitors, an SFMOMA benefit gala and a second FOG FOCUS storey, inside a January that carries four demand blocks.

FOG’s 13th edition

FOG Design+Art runs its 13th edition from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 January 2027 at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture on Piers 2 and 3. The fair’s release of Thursday 15 October 2026 calls it the most substantial presentation to date.

The closing release for the 12th edition, dated Monday 26 January 2026, records more than 60 galleries, record-breaking ticket sales, standing-room-only FOG Talks and the return of FOG MRKT in the Pier 3 entryway. The Preview Gala that opened that edition drew more than 2,700 attendees and sold out.

What the 13th edition carries

The 2027 release counts 50 exhibitors in the FOG Pavilion and 26 curated presentations in FOG FOCUS, more than 75 galleries in all. Fifteen galleries show at FOG for the first time.

The live exhibitors page renders 47 cards under the FOG Pavilion heading and 25 under FOG FOCUS.

The second storey of FOG FOCUS is new. It adds a lounge and a full-service dining room by A16.

The SFMOMA benefit line

The Preview Gala runs Wednesday 20 January 2027 and benefits SFMOMA. The release states the gala funds museum education initiatives serving more than 100,000 students, teachers, youth and families a year.

The FOG FORUM membership programme runs at two levels on sfmoma.org. FOG FORUM costs $3,000 and carries two gala tickets with early entry at 5 p.m., ten fair tickets, two reception tickets and a colour half page in the fair catalogue. FOG FORUM+ costs $6,000 and doubles the gala and fair tickets, adds a curator-led tour, media-wall recognition and a full catalogue page, and includes a one-year SFMOMA corporate membership. The catalogue deadline is 13 November 2026.

The release describes the programme as raising funds for SFMOMA’s Architecture and Design department.

The application window

The 2027 release says the fair received more applications than ever before. The fair’s home page carries an Apply now link into SlideRoom programme 88758.

The exhibitors page publishes the live 2027 list and carries no application status line. The programme page prints the fair’s dates, the line Applications will open May 4 and a notice that the program is currently not available, read on 16 October 2026. The same page names the Festival and Gateway pavilions for the fair and for FOG FOCUS.

Four demand blocks in one January

January 2027 carries four separate demand blocks in the city. The 45th J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference holds Monday 11 to Thursday 14 January, on the bank’s own conference page. The Specialty Food Association’s Winter FancyFaire holds Sunday 17 to Tuesday 19 January at Moscone North and South. SF Art Week runs Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 January. The ASCO GI Cancers Symposium holds Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 January at Moscone West.

The symposium shares three of the fair’s four days, Thursday 21 to Saturday 23. SPIE Photonics West opens Saturday 30 January and runs to Thursday 4 February across Moscone North, South and West.

The fair sits at Fort Mason. The convention centre’s feed returns 174 records and none of them is the fair.

What those nights price at

Engine’s city basis is $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. January averages $166, one percent above the city figure. March is the peak at $197 and December the trough at $129, a 35 percent spread between the two months. San Francisco ranks 18 of 50 markets on the same basis and sits 11 percent above the $148 median.

Oxford Economics, in the release of 25 June 2026, puts hotels at more than $12 billion of economic impact in San Francisco in 2025 and about $900 of citywide spending per visitor per room night. The same release counts nearly 50,000 jobs supported, about 16,000 of them direct and about 34,000 ancillary, and $2 billion in total taxes. It puts average daily rates at 92 percent of 2019 levels with 98 percent forecast for 2026.

Five nights at the January figure is $830. Five nights on the Oxford Economics line is $4,500.

One page on the fair’s own site is a cycle behind. The tickets page still prints the 2026 window, the 2026 hours and the 2026 ladder. The release of 15 October 2026 supersedes all three.

What no page publishes

The fair’s own pages, its application programme, the SFMOMA gala and FOG FORUM pages, the venue’s visitor page and the art week site carry no hotel partner, no room block, no group code and no nightly rate for fair week. The gala page names valet parking at package levels and a shuttle at Supporter level, and no property.

Fort Mason Center’s own visitor page records 1.5 million annual visitors and nearly two dozen resident non-profit and arts organizations on the campus. Neither the 2026 closing release nor the 2027 release publishes a fair attendance figure.
