Christie & Co takes a consented hotel site to market
Christie & Co is marketing a freehold hotel development site at 1 Boord Street on the Greenwich Peninsula in London. The agent published the instruction on 10 July 2026.
The plot carries planning permission for a new-build hotel scheme. Christie & Co markets it on a freehold basis with price on application, and its release carries no guide price.
The site sits within reach of The O2 Arena and North Greenwich Underground station on the Jubilee line. The agent also cites Canary Wharf, London City Airport and Central London.
The lease behind the income
Travelodge Hotels Ltd holds an agreement for lease on the site for a 366-key hotel. The lease runs 35 years, with an option for a further 25 years.
Elton Chang, associate director for hotels at Christie & Co, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for an incoming investor or developer to deliver an iconic hotel scheme with an efficient business model. The Agreement for Lease with Travelodge Hotels Ltd, one of the UK’s leading hotel groups, offers a new owner secure long-term income.”
Andrew Evangelou, head of London hotels at the agency, said: “We are delighted to bring this rare opportunity to the market. Given its strategic location and the scale of this development scheme, we expect it will attract a wide range of investors.”
Two counts for the key number
Christie & Co prints 366 keys against the agreement for lease line. The architect and the developer print 367.
Mountford Pigott posted on 15 January 2026 that planning approval had been granted for the redesign of Travelodge’s landmark hotel project at Boord Street. It wrote that the updated design takes the total number of rooms to 367, and that construction was scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2026. The Christie & Co release credits its CGI image to the same practice.
Cavendale Capital lists the scheme at 367 guest rooms plus one commercial unit across 19 storeys, with Travelodge as operator and the status Planning Approved – Open to Investment. It states that an earlier planning reconfiguration raised the key count from 300 to 367 by repurposing underused parking provisions.
The regeneration around the site
Christie & Co puts Greenwich Peninsula at an £8.4 billion mixed-use regeneration project covering 79 hectares of brownfield former industrial land.
The release names two neighbouring schemes: Fairview New Homes’ mixed-use project and the Morden Wharf development from Galliard and CDL. It also cites improved public realm, enhanced infrastructure and new living schemes across the district.
