Hospitality Biz India reported the update on 12 October 2026 from the company statement. The first half of FY2027 covers April to September 2026.

The half-year figures

The statement carries six numbers. IHCL signed 47 hotels and opened 20. The portfolio stands at 670 hotels, made up of 390 operating hotels and 280 hotels in the pipeline. The company describes the pipeline as industry leading.

The same counts appear in the Press Trust of India copy run by Rediff, in the Free Press Journal and in Safari India.

Where the signings sit across ten brands

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President for Real Estate and Development at IHCL, said the H1 signings are represented across segments. The luxury segment took four Taj hotels, one Brij property and one Atmantan property. Ginger and Tree of Life together accounted for 19 signings in the mid-scale segment.

Venkatesh said IHCL operates ten hotel brands. The portfolio table carried with the statement names Taj, Claridges Collection, Atmantan, Brij, SeleQtions, Clarks, Gateway, Vivanta, Ginger and Tree of Life.

The 20 openings and the new markets

The openings increased IHCL’s presence in Mumbai, Gurugram, Goa and Hyderabad. The company entered Kandla, Ayodhya, Tadoba, Kota, Bokaro and Jorhat in India.

IHCL extended the Taj footprint with openings in Frankfurt and Kruger in South Africa. Venkatesh said those openings took the operating hotels to 390.

What the company said

Venkatesh said: “With a strong momentum of 47 signings and 20 openings in H1 FY2027, IHCL is on track to achieve its guidance under Accelerate 2030 of a 700-hotel portfolio ahead of time.” She said the growth runs on a diversified strategy across brands, markets and contract types. She described the portfolio mix as capital-light and capital-heavy assets, with growth through the operating leverage of owned and leased hotels and a growing fee-based business.

She added that the H1 signings span the segments with ten hotel brands, from four Taj hotels, a Brij and an Atmantan in luxury to 19 signings in Ginger and Tree of Life in the mid-scale. She said the openings added key lodging markets and six emerging destinations in India. The Taj openings in Frankfurt and Kruger extended the global footprint.

The portfolio as at 30 September 2026

The statement carries a footnote on the operating count. The 390 operating hotels include hotels under brand migration: 60 Ginger hotels, two Claridges Collection hotels and three Tree of Life hotels.

IHCL describes the portfolio as 670 hotels including 280 in the pipeline, across four continents and 15 countries at more than 300 locations. The company states that it is India’s largest hospitality company by market capitalisation. It opened its first hotel, The Taj Mahal Palace, in Bombay in 1903, and Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group, incorporated the company.

The statement records that Brand Finance ranks Taj as the World’s Strongest Luxury Hotel Brand 2026 and India’s Strongest Brand 2026.
