Four February Weekends At The IU Natatorium In 2027

The IU Natatorium runs four consecutive February 2027 competition weekends. The downtown Indianapolis room count, the new supply and the questions the run leaves operators.

Four February Weekends In One Building

The IU Natatorium's own calendar lists four competition weekends in February 2027, on a page the venue updated 2 September 2026.

Jaguar Aquatics Winter Invitational, 5-7 February. IHSAA Girls Swimming & Diving Championships, 12-13 February. Horizon League Swimming & Diving Championships, 17-20 February. IHSAA Boys Swimming & Diving Championships, 26-27 February.

5 February 2027 is a Friday and 7 February a Sunday. The girls' finals run Friday and Saturday, and they sit second in the run. The Horizon League meet runs Wednesday to Saturday. The boys' finals run Friday and Saturday.

The gaps between the published dates are arithmetic. 7 to 12 February is five days. 13 to 17 February is four days. 20 to 26 February is six days. The four weekends span 22 days, from 5 to 27 February. The three championship meets span 15 days, from 12 to 27 February.

The venue's scale is published beside the calendar. The about page reports a seating capacity of 4,700 and over 100,000 competitive swimmers and fans through the building each year. The history page dates the start of a $20 million renovation to 2015, and the tour page dates its completion to 2016.

What The Championship Weekends Publish

The IHSAA's 2026-27 dates put its girls' finals on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February 2027 and its boys' finals on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 February 2027. The girls' tournament series starts earlier in the month, with sectionals on 4 and 6 February and diving regionals on 9 February. The IHSAA has published no 2027 sectional or regional site list.

IU Indy athletics' own 2026-27 schedule puts the Horizon League championship at the Natatorium from Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 February, with a 10 a.m. session on each of the four days. The host's page for the 2026 edition named six women's teams and seven men's teams in the field.

The IHSAA's 2026 finals charged $15 per session general admission, with a $35 reserved seat good for both days and free entry for children five and younger. The published days yield one night for a Friday-to-Saturday final, three for the Wednesday-to-Saturday conference block, and two for the Friday-to-Sunday club meet.

The Downtown Room Count And The New Supply

The Indiana Convention Center's own footer reports 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, 4,700 connected to the center by skywalk, 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to the airport. Its attendee hotels page adds that more than half of downtown's 7,100-plus rooms sit within blocks of the center and Lucas Oil Stadium.

Visit Indy's meeting-hotels page gives the wider count. It reports 34,000 rooms in the metro area, over 8,300 downtown with more than 3,000 in the pipeline, and 4,700 rooms connected to the center at 12 hotels with 800-plus in development. It counts 24 properties with 10,000 or more square feet of meeting space.

The newest supply is dated. The Convention Center's own news item reports 800 rooms at Signia by Hilton Indianapolis, on the Georgia Street promenade with direct skywalk access to the center. Hilton's own Signia Indianapolis page accepts reservations for stays beginning 9 December 2026. Visit Indy's new-developments page states 1 February 2027, which would sit four days before the Jaguar Aquatics weekend opens on Friday 5 February.

Where The Rooms Sit

The distances below are straight-line from the Natatorium building at 901 West New York Street, read from the OpenStreetMap index.

SpringHill Suites Indianapolis Downtown and Courtyard Indianapolis Downtown share 601 West Washington Street at 0.43 miles. Fairfield Inn & Suites Indianapolis Downtown sits at 501 West Washington Street at 0.46 miles. Hampton Inn Indianapolis Downtown IUPUI and Homewood Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Downtown IUPUI share 414 West Vermont Street at 0.48 and 0.50 miles. JW Marriott Indianapolis stands at 10 South West Street at 0.49 miles. Residence Inn Indianapolis Downtown on the Canal is at 350 West New York Street at 0.55 miles.

The February Rate Basis

Engine publishes a citywide Indianapolis rate basis of $128 per night across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Its own page puts February at $107, which it calls 16 percent below the city average, and May at $158, which it calls the year's high. Engine labels the set par rates, meaning the cheapest public price at the time of each search, and records them 10 to 180 days before check-in. The page carries no per-property figure and no per-night figure.

Four consecutive competition weekends sit inside the month that page calls the year's cheapest.

The Questions The Run Leaves Open

CBRE Hotels Research published its labor line in November 2025. Across 2,669 U.S. full-service, resort and convention hotels and the monthly statements of 866 properties, labor took 59.4 percent of food and beverage department expenses. Cost of goods sold took 24.0 percent and other expenses 16.6 percent. Labor expenses rose 2.1 percent in 2025, and the department's profit margin rose from 28.7 percent in the first half of 2024 to 29.1 percent in the first half of 2025.

The same paper reports banquet revenue at convention hotels down 7.3 percent in 2025 against resort hotels up 8.7 percent. Public room rental rose 9.5 percent and service charges 7.9 percent, two lines the authors call historically negotiable for meeting and event planners.

Four consecutive weekends raise the questions an operator answers before February. How many of the nights price as weekend nights and how many as midweek? Does the Wednesday-to-Saturday conference block pull the same rooms as the two Friday-to-Saturday finals? Which roles carry four weekends in a row, and does the four-day block move the midweek housekeeping and breakfast load? Where does the labor share of department expense sit while convention banquet revenue is down 7.3 percent?

The venue's calendar carries its own caution. The entries are subject to change.
