The news
Le Méridien St. Louis Downtown reopened on Tuesday 8 September 2026 at 1019 Pine Street. The hotel closed in January 2024 and stayed shut for more than two years.
A burst sprinkler pipe flooded the building in January 2024. STL.News reports damage to the lobby and the lower-level areas. Repairs covered flooring, walls, electrical and mechanical systems and furnishings before rooms and public spaces could return to service.
The Business Journals carried a headline on 22 September 2026 reporting better-than-expected bookings at the reopened hotel. The article body sits behind a paywall and was not read for this piece.
The dates moved twice
KSDK reported the reopening on Friday 4 September 2026 and Sauce Magazine published its account on 8 September 2026. The hotel was still targeting an early August 2026 reopening as late as June 2026, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
Hotel Online stamped its copy of the release 15 September 2026, 13 days after the event. The copy still reads in the future tense.
Two room counts in the public record
The release states 96 guest rooms and more than 1,200 square feet of meeting and event space for up to 100 guests. Hawkeye Hotels lists the same property at 91 rooms and 1,800 square feet of meeting space on its own portfolio page. STL.News reports that Marriott's listing shows two event rooms, with Salon A & B the largest configuration at up to 100 people.
Both counts come from the owner and the operator. A planner should take the contracted figure from the sales office.
Who runs it
First Hospitality manages the hotel. Hawkeye Hotels owns the building. Ravi Patel, Hawkeye's president, is quoted in the release.
Hawkeye Hotels states on its own site that the firm was founded in 1982 and holds more than $1.5 billion in assets.
The building
The property went up in 1913 and carries a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. It traded earlier as the Hotel Majestic, STL.News reports.
The release lists a 24-hour fitness center, Longitude Bar, valet parking and Wi-Fi for Marriott Bonvoy members.
Pine Street Social Kitchen & Wine Bar
The hotel's signature dining room opens later in September. The release carries no date. STL.News, last updated 18 September 2026, carries no date either.
Marriott's listing still shows Le Scoop by Le Méridien among the property's dining outlets. The 2026 release leaves Le Scoop out.
The quotes
“This reopening marks an exciting new chapter for Le Méridien St. Louis Downtown,” said Todd Curry, general manager.
“You have a 100-year-old building with an incredible story, in the heart of a great American city, and the opportunity to give it a new chapter,” said Ravi Patel, president of Hawkeye Hotels.
What the release omits
