What Marriott confirmed
Marriott International has undertaken a strategic review of its Customer Engagement Centers. The company confirmed the review and said organizational changes are being implemented as a result of it.
The changes are being made to “better reflect how our guests interact with us across channels,” a Marriott spokesperson said in an emailed statement to Hotel Dive. The spokesperson called them “a normal part of business operations.”
“New roles will be posted, and many affected associates are expected to apply for and be selected for these roles,” the spokesperson said.
No layoff number
Marriott did not confirm whether the changes will produce layoffs. The company did not say how many employees are or will be affected.
The emailed statement is the only company material on the record for this review. Marriott’s own newsroom carries no release on it. No WARN filing covering these 2026 changes has been found. No second outlet has published a number.
One year after the last round
The review lands roughly a year after a small subset of the Customer Engagement Center workforce was affected by organizational changes in October 2025. Hotel Dive reported that round on October 31, 2025. Marriott described the affected group then as “a very small subset of the Customer Engagement Center workforce.”
The 2024 reduction
Hotel Dive reports that Marriott laid off more than 800 corporate employees in 2024 as part of a companywide restructuring. Those reductions sat at the corporate level.
Hyatt cut guest services staff in June 2025
Hyatt reorganized its customer engagement operations in June 2025. Skift reported the reduction on June 23, 2025 at approximately 30 percent across the company’s guest services and support teams.
What sits on the record
Marriott has published no timeline for the 2026 changes, no affected headcount and no list of sites. The company has not said whether the centers will shrink, relocate or hold their current size.
On the record: a review, a set of changes under way and a promise of posted roles. Hotel Dive published its report on September 17, 2026. The reporter is Jenna Graber.
