Minor Hotels signed the 310-room Avani+ Hanoi for a 2028 opening, its first city property in Vietnam, and is looking for more urban hotels in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Minor Hotels signs Avani+ Hanoi

Minor Hotels has signed the 310-room Avani+ Hanoi, its first city property in Vietnam. The hotel is due to open in 2028 inside the Hinode City mixed-use development. Trading Construction Works Organization signed Minor Hotels into a management agreement for the new-build hotel, TTG Asia reported on 18 September 2026.

The property

Avani+ Hanoi sits in Bach Mai Ward. It is Minor Hotels' first property in Hanoi. The precinct is anchored by Hinode City, described as a new lifestyle mall, alongside 1,099 residential and serviced apartments. The site sits at the intersection of Minh Khai and Kim Nguu Street, with the Old Quarter a 10-minute drive away.

Minor positions Avani+ Hanoi as a premium lifestyle hotel. Planned facilities include an indoor swimming pool and deck, a fitness centre, all-day dining and specialty restaurants, and meeting and function spaces.

The existing Vietnam footprint

Minor operates four properties in Vietnam under its Anantara and Avani brands: Anantara Hoi An Resort, Anantara Mui Ne Resort, Anantara Quy Nhon Villas and Avani Quy Nhon Resort. It also runs The Vietage by Anantara, a set of luxury train carriages.

Skift reported the shift on 1 October 2026. The group sees Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as major commercial and cultural centres.

The demand case

Omar Romero, Minor Hotels' chief development and luxury officer, gave the rationale to Skift. He said air connectivity has improved and domestic travel has expanded. Romero cited 137 million domestic tourist trips in Vietnam in 2025, up about 25 per cent from 110 million the year before. Skift attributes that figure to the Vietnam National Authority for Tourism.

Where the new supply is going

Savills data cited by Skift puts Da Nang and Phu Quoc at the front of the three-year pipeline for new hotel supply. Urban inventory growth is comparatively constrained.

The target mix

The hotel targets corporate travellers, meetings, short-stay leisure and long-stay guests. Minor names South Korea and China as key source markets, alongside Japan, South-east Asia, Europe and Australia.

Ho Chi Minh City next

Romero told Skift that the group is looking for more urban opportunities and that Ho Chi Minh City is a priority. He named no specific projects.

Minor Hotels describes the aim as a connected Vietnam network. The signed record so far is one city hotel with a 2028 opening date and a stated appetite for more in the two main cities.
