Combine stays to 2028 and the Signia lands in December

The NFL Scouting Combine stays in Indianapolis through 2028 and runs March 1-8, 2027 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The 803-room Signia by Hilton and the convention center's sixth expansion open first, in December 2026.

The Combine stays, and the supply lands first

The NFL Scouting Combine stays in Indianapolis in 2027 and 2028. The Colts published the extension on Jan. 21, 2026. The city has hosted the event every year since 1987, and the prior agreement expired after the 2026 edition, which ran Feb. 23-March 2 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium.

The league's important-dates slate for the 2026-27 season books the 2027 edition at Lucas Oil Stadium for March 1-8. A December 2026 opening for the new rooms lands three months before that Monday open.

Visit Indy's executive vice president and chief business officer, Chris Gahl, gave the supply line in the announcement: "We know the expanding Indiana Convention Center and new hotel inventory downtown helped keep this marquee event in Indy."

Two room counts on one hotel

The Indiana Convention Center's expansion page sizes the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis at 803 rooms. The venue's April 21, 2026 reservations announcement reads 800. The hotel takes reservations for stays beginning Feb. 1, 2027.

The venue lists 90,000 square feet of meeting space for the hotel: a 50,455-square-foot Grand Ballroom, a 15,668-square-foot Junior Ballroom and a 9,000-square-foot Signature Ballroom. Visit Indy gives the ballroom 50,000 square feet on its new-developments and meeting-hotels pages. The property carries 70 suites of 450 to 1,900 square feet, seven dining options, the Sky Bar, a Club Signia floor, a pool and outdoor event deck, and a climate-controlled skywalk link to the center's south campus and Lucas Oil Stadium.

The center's sixth expansion and the hotel are due in December 2026. The venue's expansion page counts five expansions since its 1972 opening. The expansion adds 143,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, and the venue describes the ballroom as the largest in the state. The venue states the added space makes two citywide conventions possible at one time.

What the project is sold on

The venue's impact sheet lists 2,500 construction jobs, 400 new hotel jobs, almost $300 million in annual economic impact from retaining the conventions it names as FFA, FDIC and NTEA, up to $232 million from new conventions the added space can host, and $69.3 million projected from the new hotel's sales teams.

Visit Indy counts 34,000 rooms in the metro area, over 8,300 downtown with more than 3,000 in the pipeline, 24 properties above 10,000 square feet of meeting space, and 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms connected. The venue's own footer keeps 7,100 downtown rooms with 4,700 on skywalk.

The pipeline behind it

Visit Indy's new-developments page carries the rest. The Ritz-Carlton arrives in 2028 with 176 rooms, 15 stories, 11,500 square feet of ballroom and meeting space, a 4,000-capacity Live Nation venue and an enclosed skywalk connection. The Westin at Indianapolis International Airport opens in 2027 with 253 rooms. The Kimpton takes the Odd Fellows building in 2027 with 167 rooms and a 2,500-square-foot ballroom. The Motto opens in 2026 with 116 rooms in the King Cole Building.

The demand print under the supply

The Downtown Indy Alliance snapshot, reported by Bradford Allen on March 19, 2026 and citing CoStar and STR data, gives downtown Indianapolis 64.7 percent occupancy against 62.4 percent for the United States, a $209.11 average daily rate, a $135.20 RevPAR, and 8.1 million room nights of demand in the 12 months to mid-2025. The same report counts more than 1,500 rooms under construction at mid-year, 3,402 in final planning and 3,220 proposed.

The published gaps

No Combine room block, rate, cut-off date or housing bureau is published for 2027 by the league, the Colts or Visit Indy. No group rate is published for the Signia's 90,000 square feet of meeting space. Read the venue's expansion page for the construction clocks and Visit Indy's Signia page for the meeting-space plans before pricing a 2027 group.
