Moscone and the Marriott Marquis Carry Photonics West 2027

SPIE Photonics West 2027 runs 30 January to 4 February at the Moscone Center, with the Global Business Forum at the Marriott Marquis and a housing block that closes on 25 January 2027.

The Week and the Campus

SPIE Photonics West 2027 runs 30 January to 4 February at the Moscone Center. The venue carries the window and the buildings on its own event page: Moscone North, South and West.

The Moscone Center's administrative office sits at 747 Howard Street. Moscone West sits at 800 Howard Street.

The week runs two exhibition windows. BiOS Expo takes 30 and 31 January. The Photonics West Exhibition takes 2 to 4 February.

The Monday Between the Two Expos

The two published windows leave Monday 1 February without an exhibition floor. The conference programme and the 60 courses run through it.

The organiser publishes the exhibition dates and no floor clock. The hours each hall opens and closes are unpublished.

The Marriott Marquis Holds the Monday

SPIE's forum page places the Global Business Forum on 1 February 2027 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, 780 Mission Street. The forum runs under its own registration.

The SPIE Prism Awards ceremony takes 3 February 2027 and needs separate registration. The 2027 awards page carries no banquet venue.

The Block and the Clock on It

ConferenceDirect is the official housing bureau for the 2027 event. The bureau landing states the housing website closes on Monday 25 January 2027. Hotel closing dates vary by hotel.

The bookable window runs 23 January to 9 February 2027.

Cancellations carry a $50 fee at any time. The bureau's terms state the charge reaches the card statement as CONFDIRECT*SPIEPW27. A cancellation made directly with the hotel incurs the same fee. The housing desk answers Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern.

Inventory Inside Walking Distance

The Moscone Center's FAQ counts over 20,000 hotel rooms within walking distance. The venue's book-an-event page counts more than two-thirds of the city's 34,000 rooms inside that distance.

The Rate the Week Prices Against

Engine puts the San Francisco average at $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Those are par rates, the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search.

Engine's monthly ladder gives January at $166, one percent above the city average. March reads $197, 19 percent above. December reads $129, 22 percent below. The cheapest month and the priciest sit 35 percent apart. The city ranks 18 of 50 markets in the dataset, 11 percent above the $148 median.

Six nights at the January par rate bill $996.

The City's Own Arithmetic

The American Hotel & Lodging Association and the California Hotel & Lodging Association released an Oxford Economics study on 25 June 2026. It puts the industry's San Francisco impact above $12 billion for 2025 and each hotel room night at about $900 in citywide spending per visitor.

The study counts nearly 50,000 jobs, about 16,000 direct and 34,000 ancillary, $2 billion in total taxes, and $8 billion spent by guests at hotels and local businesses.

Average daily rates reached 92 percent of 2019 levels in 2025. The study forecasts 98 percent for 2026.

The Weeks on Either Side

The venue's event feed carried the surrounding 2027 bookings on 17 October 2026. Winter FancyFaire runs 17 to 19 January in Moscone North and South. ASCO GI runs 21 to 23 January in Moscone West.

The feed's next booking after Photonics West closes on 4 February is ASCO GU on 11 to 13 February in Moscone West. The feed lists no booking between 4 and 11 February. ORS follows on 19 to 23 February.

The venue publishes no attendance figure for Photonics West. SPIE counts more than 1,200 companies on the floor and 24,000 people from the optics and photonics community.
