Rosewood Leaves Le Guanahani; Airelles Reopens It On 1 November

Rosewood stops managing Le Guanahani St. Barth on 1 October 2026 and the property reopens as Airelles Le Guanahani on 1 November. The owner's heirs triggered a 2026 exit clause.

Rosewood out on 1 October, Airelles in on 1 November

Rosewood stops managing Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth on 1 October 2026. The property reopens on 1 November 2026 as Airelles Le Guanahani St. Barth. Airelles' own Saint-Barthelemy page carries a live countdown and the line "OPENING ON NOVEMBER 1st, 2026".

One Mile at a Time reported the switch on 17 September 2026. Rosewood has confirmed the exit to its customers.

Rosewood's own statement

Rosewood told guests that from 1 October 2026 it will "cease managing the Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth as part of the property's transition to a new owner and operator". The statement says the group wants to make the transition smooth and to give guests the information and assistance they need before their stay. It does not name the incoming operator.

The estate triggered a 2026 exit clause

The owner was David Bonderman, the American investor and co-founder of TPG. He died on 11 December 2024. His heirs did not keep the hotel. They exercised the 2026 exit clause in Rosewood's management contract and put the property up for sale, according to the French trade press.

Stephane Courbit's LOV Group bought the property and folded it into Airelles, the French luxury collection. The purchase price was not disclosed.

A 1986 resort rebuilt after Irma

Le Guanahani opened in 1986. Hurricane Irma damaged the resort in September 2017, and it closed for the rebuild. It reopened under Rosewood management in late 2021.

The property sits on a private peninsula at Grand Cul-de-Sac, between the lagoon and Marechal Bay, facing Turtle Island. It holds 66 rooms, suites and villas in Creole-style cottages. Airelles' own page puts the estate at seven hectares, including two beaches, inside a protected nature reserve.

Airelles adds its first beachfront house

Airelles is a French five-star collection with houses at Courchevel, Val d'Isere, Gordes, Saint-Tropez, the Chateau de Versailles and Venice. Le Guanahani becomes its first beachfront property.

The trade press reports the property's teams stay on, and that the four weeks between the two operators rule out heavy renovation work on the near-term plan.

The brand-fit question the trade raises

One Mile at a Time does not read the rebrand as a clean win. The post calls the design generic for the collection and notes the property runs one main restaurant while most Airelles houses run several. It frames the concern as a point where the collection puts growth ahead of quality. That is the author's opinion.

The timing adds attention. Variety reported on 9 January 2026 that the fourth season of The White Lotus will film at Chateau de la Messardiere, the Airelles house in Saint-Tropez. CNN has reported the property as a principal filming location.

What 1 November answers

Rosewood exits on 1 October. Airelles opens on 1 November, ahead of the Caribbean high season. The Airelles site already takes enquiries under the new name. The open question is what the house changes in four weeks.
