A Beach Day With a $300,000 Goal
Leap’s 44th Annual Sandcastle Classic runs Saturday, 24 October 2026 at Ocean Beach at Balboa Street in San Francisco. The organiser publishes the 2026 fundraising goal at $300,000.
One FAQ answer carries the second number. The Classic raises 30 percent of the costs required to deliver Leap’s arts education programs.
The two published lines put the program budget at about $1,000,000. That figure is arithmetic on the goal and the share. The organiser publishes neither total.
Where the Money Lands
Leap states that 100 percent of the funds raised through the Sandcastle Classic go toward providing arts education to students in the Bay Area. The sponsors page gives 100 percent of proceeds going directly to arts education programs.
The programs place professional teaching artists in classrooms to work with grades K through 5. The subject list carries music, dance, theatre, creative writing, visual arts and architecture.
Reach appears twice on the organiser’s own pages. The FAQ gives 8,500 Bay Area students across 30 schools each year. The sitewide text gives over 8,000 students in more than 30 elementary schools throughout the Bay Area.
The Sponsor Ladder Holds Eight Positions
The sponsors page lists eight paid positions across four bands.
The Presenting position at the Sandcastle Event carries $25,000. The Premier position at the Sandcastle Stage carries $10,000. The Premier position at the Community Castle carries $5,000.
The Building band holds two positions at $3,000 each. One is the Promo Item and Award Sponsor. The other is the Water Monster.
The Supporting band holds three positions. Pre and Post Event Sponsorships carry $1,000. The Classroom Design Session carries $1,000. The Branded Beach Booth carries $500.
The page runs from $500 to $25,000.
What Each Position Describes
The presenting position carries top co-branding on all formats and a titled billing line. The stage position places a brand in front of the 5,000-plus community members, families and teams the organiser counts on the beach. The community castle position attaches a company to the open build that sits outside the registered teams.
The promo item position covers a branded item given out on the sand or the awards handed to each team. The water monster position covers a branded water station for competitors and beachgoers. The booth position gives a company a six foot table near the event entrance.
The Recognition Table Splits by Band
Five lines reach all four bands. They are recognition in the press release, a logo on Leap websites, a logo in emails to donors and participants, invitations to the pre and post events, and a mention in outgoing e-blasts.
Industry-based exclusivity, stage signage, a stage mention, a speaking slot at the kick-off or Castles and Cocktails, and a mention by media partner KOIT sit with the presenting and premier bands. The KOIT mention runs monthly for presenting and twice for premier.
Social media coverage runs monthly for presenting, three times for premier, twice for building and once for supporting.
Two lines sit with single bands. A logo on team awards sits with the building band. A logo on pre and post event promotion sits with the supporting band.
A branded space inside the event center sits with presenting, premier and building.
Logos Are Due 23 Days Before the Event
The sponsors page carries one deadline. Logos and materials must be submitted by 1 October 2026.
The event date is 24 October 2026. The gap between the two dates is 23 days.
The pre and post positions sit inside that window. The page names the Sandcastle Team Kick-Off Mixer, the Fundraising 101 and Guidelines to the Classroom sessions, the Sandcastle Pre-Party and the Castles and Cocktails post party.
The Team Tier Runs Alongside
A registered team carries a $500 fee and a fundraising goal of at least $5,000. A team is typically three to five companies working with students from one local elementary school.
The event accepts a maximum of 30 teams this year. The event info page gives the highest grossing team in the event’s history at $60,000.
The same page counts more than 25 local schools and 500 donating companies and advertisers across the participating set.
The Positions Already Spoken For in 2026
The 2026 media release names sponsors at work on the edition. The list carries McCarthy Building Companies, BNBuilders, Menard, Dunn-Edwards Paints, AT&T, SF Hole in the Wall Pizza, KOIT, SF Rec and Park, Ocean Beach Cafe and Truly Loved Events.
The release also names the judge and the host. Chuck Collins, president of the San Francisco Arts Commission, judges the finished sculptures. KOIT’s Freska hosts the 3:15 PM award ceremony.
