The Wolseley to Open Its First Members Club in a 77-Key Manhattan Hotel

The Wolseley Hotels will open its first members club in the second quarter of 2027 inside The Wolseley Hotel New York, the former Lambs Club Building at 130 West 44th Street, with no membership fee or joining criteria published.

The Club Opens in the Lambs Club Building

The Wolseley Hotels will open a members club inside The Wolseley Hotel New York in the second quarter of 2027. The club occupies several levels of the building at 130 West 44th Street in Manhattan. The building is the former Lambs Club Building in the Theatre District.

Boutique Hotel News carried the announcement on 8 October 2026. The item names Minor International as the parent company of The Wolseley Hotels.

The First Members Club for the Brand

The club is the first for The Wolseley Hotels, and New York is the inaugural address for the concept. The Wolseley's London addresses are restaurants on Piccadilly and in the City.

The club adds lounges, dining rooms, private salons and terraces, with all-day dining and drinks. Members will hold wellness facilities, longevity programming, dining privileges and an exclusive social calendar.

Minor International states an intent to connect members across New York, London and other international cities.

The Restored Stanford White Room at the Centre

The restored Stanford White Room sits at the centre of the club. The room is set for gatherings, performances, private events and cultural programming.

The trade item describes the building as America's first professional theatrical club, a clubhouse designed by Stanford White for The Lambs.

A Clubhouse That Opened in 1905

The Lambs, a theatrical social club, was founded in 1874, and its clubhouse opened on 1 September 1905. The original wing at 128-130 West 44th Street was designed by Stanford White of McKim, Mead and White between 1904 and 1905. The annex at 132 West 44th Street was designed in 1915 by George Freeman.

The building stood six stories high and was developed in two phases. The section of 44th Street just east of it carries the name Club Row. When the building went up, the Harvard Club, the Yale Club, the New York Yacht Club, the New York City Bar Association and the Century Association all held clubhouses in the area.

The current interiors date to a renovation between 2007 and 2010 by the designer Thierry Despont. The building carries a New York City landmark designation and sits on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Ownership Record

The Lambs sold the clubhouse at auction in 1975. The Church of the Nazarene bought it and ran the building as a mission. The church leased the theatres to an off-Broadway venue called the Lamb's Theatre.

The church announced plans to convert the building into a hotel in 1999 and sold it in 2006 to Hampshire Hotels, operated by the family of Vikram Chatwal. The Chatwal New York hotel and the Lambs Club restaurant opened in 2010, and the hotel joined Starwood's Luxury Collection.

Ben-Josef Group has owned the building since 2025 and announced plans to reopen it as The Wolseley Hotel.

The Terms the Announcement Omits

The announcement publishes no membership fee and no joining criteria. It names no application dates. It does not state what access hotel guests will hold at the club.

The trade item gives the hotel 77 rooms. No second count was readable from the newsroom on 15 October 2026, so the gate reports the one figure it read.

"We wanted to create an all-day social living room for people whose lives move effortlessly between Uptown and Downtown, New York and London," said Dillip Rajakarier, group CEO of Minor International, the parent company of The Wolseley Hotels. He said the concept begins at 130 West 44th Street.
